Vultures: The Misunderstood Heroes of the Ecosyste.

"Sometimes, it’s not about being the best. It’s about being lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time."

Jamnagar is the place where so many birds are found so many opportunities for birds enthusiastic. In the past and in the present, So many rare bird species has been found in Gujarat as well as in Jamnagar.

Birds are migratory and residence they often travel a lot. The reason behind the migration are finding food, finding good place to stay, finding best environment for their living. Jamnagar is a costal area where so many birds are coming and I think they find it as a safest place for living.

In 2020 Grey Hornbill was found, in 2022 Mute Swan, in June 2023 Brown Noddy, in August 2023 a Bridled tern was found in Jamnagar these are some very rare birds species found which indicate that Jamnagar is safe for birds. There might be some other reasons as well like tornado or heavy rain which makes birds migration difficult. And I think Jamnagar is alot like their natural environment.

In 2024 this monsoon brought one another species which surprised us with it's appearance which was last seen approx 25 years ago suggested by bird experts.

We also discovered that this bird was a resident of Jamnagar 25 years ago, which is at the brink of extinction.

This bird is non another than Indian Vulture.

At first glance this huge bird has long slender neck and 6 to 8 feet long wingspan. It has a very powerfull beak which helps to break the bones. Vultures are very important for the environment because they are scavengers. They keep the environment clean.

Found Vulture in Jamnagar

Because of some reasons they are facing extinction and in last 25 years the Indian Vulture has not been seen in around the Jamanagar.

One of my good friend called me this afternoon and told me about it's sighting in Jamnagar. I was very lucky and exited to see this. So many bird enthusiastics gathered together to witness this rare bird. Everyone were so exited they were clicking photos we also took some photos and videos using binocular. Which I will share in this post.

Found Vulture in Jamnagar Gujarat

We and every other bird enthusiastic who were present there were observing every moment of the Indian Vulture and trying to understand such questions.

"Was this only bird in the area?"

"Was it looking for food?"

"Was it lost?"

All of these questions were making us curious about the bird. Whatever the reason behind it, Mother nature is always doing good things, we can save the nature for these animals and birds. Awareness of saving nature is important at last everything is in the hand of Mother Nature.
